Downsizing · Newport & Bristol County

Forty years in one house. Zero boxes to build.

If you're leaving a longtime home — or helping a parent leave theirs — the packing is the mountain. We deliver sturdy, reusable crates to your door. You pack at your own pace, a room at a time, and we pick everything up when you're done. Nothing to buy, nothing to tape, nothing to break down afterward.

A stack of Aquidneck Crate Co. crates packed and ready in a family's living room
A real delivery, packed and waiting — no cardboard in sight.
A pace that fits

Downsizing isn't a weekend job. Your rental shouldn't be either.

Most downsizers take the full four weeks — and weeks three and four are half the base rate. That changes the whole job:

1

A room at a time

Crates arrive stacked and ready. Fill a few, close the lids, and they wait neatly out of the way while you decide on the next room.

2

No deadline panic

Sort the attic on Tuesday, the china cabinet next week. There's no cardboard collapsing in the garage pressuring you to hurry.

3

Gone when you're done

When the last crate is unpacked at the new place, we collect everything. No mountain of flattened boxes, no overflowing recycling cart, no favors owed.

The sorting

Four piles, one honest system

Every downsizing move comes down to the same four decisions. Crates handle the first one beautifully.

Coming with you

Straight into crates. Rigid walls and latching lids protect the china, the photo albums, and the things that can't be replaced — no tape seams to pop, no corners to crush.

Going to family

Set it aside as you sort. A crate by the door for each kid or grandkid makes hand-off day simple — and they return the crate to us, not to your new closet.

Donate or sell

Local thrift shops and consignment stores take furniture and household goods; the charities will often collect. Sorting room by room keeps this pile manageable instead of overwhelming.

Letting go

Some of it is just done. Bag it and let it leave a little at a time with the regular trash — no single brutal weekend with a dumpster.

Packages

Most downsizers land here

A longtime 3–4 bedroom home usually fits the 55 or 75 crate packages. Every package includes delivery, pickup, and one dolly — and the four-week rate is where downsizing math gets kind.

Prices shown are before tax. Smaller home? See all packages — they start at $119. Full payment due at booking.

Questions

Downsizing, answered

How long can we keep the crates?

Two to four weeks — and if your timeline slips, call us before your pickup date and we'll extend you. Downsizing runs on life's schedule, not the other way around.

I'm organizing this for my parent. Can I book it?

Yes, and you're not alone — adult children book for parents all the time. Book and pay online from wherever you live; if you'd like, we'll coordinate delivery and pickup directly with your parent so there's one less relay for you. Call 401-830-4280 and we'll set it up together.

Are crates really safer for fragile things?

They have rigid walls and lids that latch shut — no tape seams to pop in a hot truck, no bottom corners that fold under weight. Packed with the same care you'd give a box, the china and the photo albums ride better in crates.

Do you do the packing for us?

We're the crate people — delivery and pickup are ours, packing is yours. But crates make the packing itself far easier: no building boxes, no tape gun, and packed crates stack safely out of the way while you work through the house.

Which towns do you deliver to?

Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth, Jamestown, Tiverton, Bristol, Warren, and Barrington — all of Newport County and Bristol County.

Start when you're ready
